Portage Lakes Bluegill & Bass Tournament Rules
Entry Info
- Entry fee is $40 cash only per team, You may fish solo if you wish (team max 2 people per vessel)
- Sign-ups begin 8/12/26
- You may enter up to the day of the event
- Cash only Entry Fees are to be made at: Cast Cray PLX Bait & Tackle

Eligible Species
- Bluegill / Redears may be weighed.
- Fish must be legally caught by pole, hook and line only.
- Bluegill must be fresh but (hard to keep alive this time of year) so dead is ok.
- Bass must be alive to quality
Tournament Format
- Each angler may weigh in up to their Top 5 fish by total weight.
- Paying out 3 spots: 1st = 50%, 2nd = 30%, 3rd = 10% & 10% Going to Cast Cray Cares
- +$10 side pot with 100% Payout for Biggest Largemouth Bass by weight
Fishing Area
- Contestants may fish any publicly accessible lake within the Portage Lakes including Nimisila
- Fishing is allowed from:
- Boat
- Kayak
- Canoe
- Shore
- No fishing on private waters or restricted areas
Boundaries
Eligible public waters include connected Portage Lakes areas open to public access, including launches, parks, and shoreline access points & Nimisila.
Fishing Date / Hours
- September 5th 2026
- Check-in necessary for participation at Cast Cray PLX Bait & Tackle 8am
- Lines in at 9am
- Must be in line to weigh in at Cast Cray PLX Bait & Tackle – 656 W. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd – Akron, OH 44319 by 3pm
- Late weigh-ins may result in disqualification. We will call close to weigh in at 3:10pm if not in line.
Sportsmanship & Legal Requirements
- All Ohio fishing laws and boating regulations must be followed.
- Valid Ohio fishing license required.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in disqualification.
Ties
- Ties will be broken by the single biggest bluegill / redear.
- Ties for bass side pot will be broken by flip of a coin.
Safety
- Fish at your own risk. Cast Cray Outdoors, LLC will not be held liable for any mishaps for any reason.
Tournament Director
- Tournament officials reserve the right to inspect catches and make final rulings on all disputes.
